Technical and vocational education (TechVoc) has increasingly been recognized as a key contributor to
socioeconomic stability, poverty reduction, and inclusive human development. As global research on
TechVoc expands across education, sustainability, and public health, it becomes important to understand
how scholarly contributions shape the field’s evolution, especially in relation to marginalized populations.
Despite this growing interest, there remains limited systematic mapping of global research productivity,
thematic trends, and influential works in TechVoc education. This study employed a bibliometric analysis
using Scopus-indexed publications processed through Biblioshiny for R to identify global research trends,
influential journals, productive countries, and highly cited documents in TechVoc-related scholarship.
Citation patterns, keyword occurrences, and publication outputs were examined to map the intellectual
structure and emerging themes of the field. Findings reveal that TechVoc research is concentrated in a few
key journals, particularly the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, the
Journal of Vocational Education and Training, and Sustainability (Switzerland). Scholarly output is led by
high-income countries such as the United States, China, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Australia,
although emerging participation from Asian nations indicates expanding regional engagement. Highly cited
works demonstrate a strong interdisciplinary connection between vocational education, public health,
resilience, and sustainable development. The results indicate a rapidly expanding and interdisciplinary field
that positions TechVoc education as a critical instrument for advancing economic resilience and
empowering disadvantaged groups. Strengthening collaboration and research capacity, particularly in
underrepresented regions, can enhance global knowledge production and support more inclusive and
sustainable development pathways.
