Situated on the south-eastern portion of Batangas Province is a coastal city, the City of Batangas. Along the sandy beaches of its coastal areas is a type of forest that is hardly written, talked about and often unknown to many Filipinos, the beach forests. The beach forest is an area that is of great significance and carries unique traits unlike any other ecosystems. Beach forests are found on a variety of landforms and constant exposure to strong winds and typhoons result in a mixture of vegetation types. It provides protection against storm surges and its vegetations hold sand together thus, preventing beach erosion. Due to its location, natural processes take toll on coastal plant communities. But man, because of their activities, has brought tremendous impact on these vegetations. In this study, floral diversity of beach forests of three rural barangays along Batangas Bay was analyzed.
