The assessment of the University of Rizal System Tanay forest was conducted with the primary objective of identifying the plant species in the area. Systematic sampling method was used wherein sampling plots were selected from a predetermined grid of points. There were 40 species of trees and 113 species including the non-trees and 148 associated species in the study area. Shannon index for diversity revealed a low value. The relatively low score however does not imply that the tract of the forest be disregarded because there are occurrences of threatened species and such a natural habitat is one of the very few that exist today, and thus, need to be conserved.
