The study aimed to find out the level of compliance of residents of selected barangays in Batangas City on R.A 9482 or Anti-Rabies Act of 2007. The study also determined the profile of respondents in terms of age, monthly income and highest educational attainment. Moreover, the researchers wanted to find out the most commonly complied section of R. A 9482 Anti-Rabies Act of 2007 in terms of being a responsible pet owner and the national rabies prevention and control program. The researchers specified the differences of the responses of the residents in their compliance on R.A 9482 –Anti-Rabies Act of 2007 when grouped according to profile variables. The study applied the descriptive method of research. The statistical tools caused in the data analysis were percentage, frequency, weighted mean, ranking and F-test. Based on the findings, majority of the respondents were 40 years old and above, college graduates and with a monthly income of P5,000 to P10,000. The results of the study showed that the respondents commonly complied on R.A 9482-Anti-Rabies Act of 2007 in terms of participating in mass vaccination of dogs. Unfortunately, respondents somewhat complied on aspects such as providing proper grooming, adequate food and clean shelter to a dog, maintaining control over a dog and not to allow the dog to roam on the streets or any public place without a leash and etc. Data also revealed that there were significant differences regarding compliance on R.A. 9482-Anti-Rabies Act of 2007 when the respondents are grouped according to profile variables. The researchers recommended that respondents should have increased awareness on programs of the Department of Health (DOH) especially on anti-rabies campaign to prevent and control rabies in the community. The barangay health workers could help in increasing the awareness of the people in the community about the content of R.A 9482-Anti Rabies Act of 2007 by giving informal materials around the community and to promote responsible pet ownership. The dog owners should be conscious and should highly comply on the provisions of the act. The researchers also recommended to make a tarpaulin that contained the content of R. A 9482- “Anti-Rabies Act of 2007” especially the provisions on being a responsible dog owner that will benefit the selected barangays in Batngas City in order to prevent and control rabies. A similar study may be conducted in other communities to determine the effectiveness of DOH-implemented programs about prevention and control of rabies.
