Today, buses are one of the most popular means of transportation. With the demand for this public transport, it is inevitable that the drivers have to work double time to meet the needs of the passengers. Too much stress puts a lot of pressure to their nutritional status. Eventually, they will produce symptoms as a result of prolonged stress or any underlying condition associated with prolonged driving as a bus driver. The purpose of this study is to assess the nutritional status of bus drivers, to recommend interventions and impart knowledge to voluntarily change their lifestyle habits by proposing a Wellness Program Development. It focused on the demographic profile of the bus drivers which includes age, length of years in driving and number of hours in driving per day. It also looked on the anthropometric measurements of the respondents which includes height and weight measurement, waist hip ratio and BMI. In addition, it also looked on the dietary intake of the respondents which includes the 24 hour food recall. Relationship among the demographic profile, anthropometric results and dietary intake was determined, A Wellness Program Development program was also prepared to minimize the risk of the respondents of having such diseases. It posted a null hypothesis that there is no significant relationship between nutritional status of bus drivers and the demographic profile and the anthropometric and dietary measurement of the bus drivers. The researchers utilized the descriptive research design with 122 bus drivers from selected bus company in Batangas City. The study made use of self constructed questionnaire as its primary data gathering instrument. The data gathered from the investigation were treated with the use of Frequency, Percentage (%), Ranking and Cross Tabulation. The finding revealed that majority of the respondents were in the range of ages 31-40 years old who spent 12 hours and above of driving in a day and had seven and above years of service in driving. In addition, it is also revealed that most of the respondents were overweight according to the results of BMI. Majority of the respondents had an excess intake in Protein, Fat, and Calorie. The proposed Wellness Program Development may help the bus drivers to lower the risk on having nutritional problems, therefore, diseases. This study served as an awareness to the health care providers to recognize and give effort to the status of health of bus drivers. It will help them make an action in providing the best quality of life of bus drivers.
