ASSESSMENT ON RECORD KEEPING STRATEGIES OF SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES IN LIPA CITY

This research assessed the record keeping strategies of Small and Medium Enterprises in Lipa City. It determines the business profile of the respondents in terms of nature of business, form of business, capitalization, years in the operation and number of employees. It also determines their assessment in record keeping strategies in terms of policy strategy, design strategy, standards strategy and implementations strategy. This study used descriptive design in order to achieve the objectives. The subjects of the study are 190 small and medium enterprises from Lipa City. The research used simple random sampling for the distribution of the questionnaire. The researchers also tested if the assessment of record keeping strategies had significant differences when grouped according to business profile variable. The researchers used statistical treatment such as percentage, Likert scale, weighted mean and one way analysis of variance. Based on the study, most of the respondents were in retailing, corporations, having the capital of 15,000,001 to 100,000,000, operating between 1 to 5 years and having 10 to 99 employees. With regards to the assessment on record keeping of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in terms of policy strategy, they responded strongly agree which has a qualitative description of highly practiced. When it comes to the assessment on record keeping of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in terms of design strategy, they responded agree with qualitative description of moderately practiced. In the assessment on record keeping of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in terms of standards strategy, the respondents strongly agree with the qualitative description of highly practiced. With regards to the assessment on record keeping of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in terms of implementation strategy, they responded strongly agree with the qualitative description of moderately practiced. Based on the result of the study, the difference between respondent’s business profile variables to their record keeping strategies of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Lipa City indicates significant difference between business profiles. This could also mean that the respondent’s record keeping strategies are dependent on the nature of the business. The Information, Education, and Communication Materials produced by the researchers is a module which may help the bookkeepers or owners of the small and medium enterprises to enhance their record keeping strategy.
