Electricity has provided countless benefits to people, but it still remains one of the most deadly elements readily available in our daily lives. For this reason, every person living or working in residential, commercial, or industrial installations, particularly the operators and personnel who are in close operation and contact with electrical systems and machineries, should essentially be protected against possible electrification. To attain this, an efficient grounding system must be provided in accordance with standard requirements. In this study, the researchers aimed to propose a grounding system design intended for Batangas State University (BatStateU) Main Campus II. The buildings of the said campus, most especially the academic buildings, have delicate and expensive equipment that are being used by the students during experiments and in other academic-related activities. However, not all of the buildings has a grounding system to protect the equipment as well as the electrical system. The proposed grounding system design for the entire campus could provide an effective protection for the electrical system of the campus as well as for the expensive and high-grade equipment that it contains. This study specifically aimed to (1) assess the existing grounding system design of Batangas State University Main Campus II; (2) determine the design considerations for grounding and lightning protection system as prescribed by PEC, NEC, and IEEE; and (3) to provide the necessary design considerations features, and specifications of materials for the grounding system design. This study was descriptive in nature which aimed to provide an efficient and effective and efficient grounding and lightning protection system for BatStateU Main Campus II.
