The positive image of the Philippines as a tourist destination continues to spread further around the world. The country ranked 74th in the 2015 World Economic Forum Tourism Competitiveness report, jumping 20 spots up from its 94th rank in 2011. Tourism makes an important part to the economy of the country. The growth of the economy had been into a major change since the end of the People Power Revolution up until to the present time because of tourism growth. Direct employment in the tourism industry is now at 4.758 million people or 12.5% of the total employment in the country—not yet including Filipinos who indirectly benefit and are employed as a result of increased tourism activities. This inevitable growth in international visitor arrivals and domestic travel bring about a corresponding increase in demands for accommodation as well as adding facilities to improve and promote cultural aspects of certain regions. Hotels, resorts and other types of accommodation facilities especially in the regions have to be built to address these lodging requirements. It will also increase demand for events and conventions that may be held. Thus, this proposal project is entitled, “CITY OF PINES TOURISM COMPLEX: A Proposed Redevelopment of Baguio Convention and Cultural Center in the City of Baguio.” It intends to provide adequate and high quality accommodation for corporate people who wants a big venue away from the urban cities as well as vacationers, students and other people who want to stay in the area wherein the most visited city of the country, Baguio City, is located and other places like Banaue Rice Terraces and Sagada. It also aims to contribute to the intense increase of tourism and travel incursion of the country. Thus, it will give a different level of experience in terms or relaxation and leisure.
