PhilMet Corp. is strategically designed to produce bio-methanol utilizing biomass as raw materials specifically waste paper. The aforementioned plant will serve as supplier to the large oil and gas, chemical and petrochemical industries. The plant will utilize 30% of the available biomass, waste paper, amounting to 120,000 kg/day which will be collected in the vicinity of Metro Manila and near the city of Bulacan. For a total of 320 working days, the plant will produce 9,769,756.08 kg/year annually. An increase in production level is expected to increase as biomass increases or as the plant utilizes other capacity increasing technologies. The plant will acquire a total land area of 50, 000 m2 in Barangay San Roque, Hagonoy, Bulacan. This location is accessible via national highway and near the Manila Bay for water transportation. The area is sufficient enough to keep distance to the residential and provide space for future expansion and development. The plant will have a total capital investment of Php. 1,524,138,851.06 and will start its operations on the year 2020. Financial studies of the design estimated a payback of 4.27 years with a percentage return of investment (ROI) of 27.14%. Based on the deliberation of the engineering socio-economic, technical and financial aspects of the design, the project is achievable, beneficial, safe and profitable.
