Terephil Corporation, the proposed plant which is the first terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol manufacturing plant in the country, would answer the continuous existence and year-to-year countries’ accumulation of plastics. Indeed it would help the worldwide growing concern about protection of environment and also will support the government in improving countries trade sectors. The annual production of the proposed TerePhil Corp. will be producing 9905.71 and 8753.51 tons/year of Terephthalic Acid and Ethylene Glycol, respectively, from 72 tons of waste polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles. The plant will operate 24 hours per day for the total of 330 working days. An increase in the production level is expected to increase as the amount of waste PET bottles increases or as the plant utilize other capacity increasing technologies. Terephil Corp will be located in Bagac, Bataan where the site will be converted later into a sanitary landfill as part of the implementation of the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act (Philstar, 2001). The site is ensured to be safe for all the residents and for the workers. All the safety regulations will be implemented for the continuous operation that requires extensive manpower and will monitor all the unit operations and processes involved in the manufacturing plant. As shown on the market study, the global and local demand of the products that will be produced by the manufacturing plant will continue to grow for the next 15 years. The percentage market share of Terephil Corp is 9.88% for Terephthalic Acid and 10.73% for Ethylene Glycol and 11.38%. The company will loan from the bank for the 25% of its capital and 75% will be coming from the founders. The total capital investment of the manufacturing plant is Php 4,258,026,992.30. The start of the operation will be on 2021. The payback period based on the financial study is 4.49 years with an average Return on Investment (ROI) of 26.77%. From the market, financial and technical studies gathered, the proposed plant design, the project is possible, constructive and profitable.
