The concentration of selected heavy metals and human health risk associated in
consuming freshwater Asian clam with traces of Arsenic were investigated. The
clams were harvested in its habitat in Eastern part of Laguna Lake. Concentrations
of Pb and Cd in pooled clam soft tissue were determined by Ashing Acid Digestion
and Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission, respectively. The concentration of
As was determined through Hydride Vapor generation and Atomic Absorption
Spectrometry. Traces of Pb, Cd and As were detected in the pooled tissue of clams.
Arsenic had the highest concentration in both years.
