This study assessed the performance of the college students from different state universities
and colleges in Eastern Visayas taking College Algebra. It looks upon most of the factors
that jointly affect the students’ physical and emotional behavior in dealing with the subject.
It focused on the students’ attitude and how it affected his/her interest towards the subject.
The study utilized the descriptive research approach.Majority of the students were young;
most were females, and had mathematical references at home and satisfactory high school
grades in mathematics. Different behavioral assessments were provided to 180 students and
interpreted the result whether it is positive, neutral or negative. Students’ positive attitudes
were on the value, interest, and effort; negative attitudes were on difficulty. Students had
satisfactory grades in College Algebra. No significant relationship was in the variables for the
hypotheses tested.
