Design and Fabrication of Portable Motorized Corn Sheller

The corn sheller is a simple tool that makes it possible to shell maize several times faster than by hand. The device has the additional advantages of being robust, portable and transparent to users. The main purpose of this project was to design, construct and test a portable motorized corn shelling machine that uses spiral type of shelling cylinder that separates the corn seed to the corn cob that can be used for small scale business. Having tested the fabricated machine, it was found out that the shelling productivity, cleaning efficiency, threshing efficiency, unshelled grain percentage, grain damage are the following: 360 kg/hr, 91.592%, 91.2%, 1.34%, 4.08% respectively.
