This paper aims to develop a maritime profile index which measures a nation`s shipping activity around the world. A principal component analysis was used to reduce the number of variables in a dataset, which were taken from the UNCTADSTAT 2019. Based on the findings, Maritime Profile of different countries may be succinctly described in terms of the following categories: 1) Shipping Activity Dependent Nations- propel the economy of the nation, 2) Coastline Regions Index-more capacity to accommodate foreign ships, 3) Ship Recycling and shipbuilding-capital availability of the equipment, and 4) Ship-owners Nations-ship owning. Further, the study also revealed that most of the countries under category 1. It is implied therefore that the prosperity of economic development of the countries depend on shipping activity.
