Philippines is considered as the top producer of abaca fiber among other countries. However, the abaca industry encountered several problems which affect its productivity and one of these problems is the low fertility status of the soil. The use of chemical fertilizer is one way to provide nutrients to the soil and plants, however, it cannot sustain for a long time and has a negative impact in the environment, soil, and crops. To address such problem, converting to organic fertilizer is a good idea; in fact, it has a long-term effect wherein it fixes the nutrients in the soil. Introduction of biofertilizer which basically contains plant growth promoting microorganisms (PGPM) can be a good practice of organic farming that can be added to the soil and produces essential nutrients necessary for plant growth. The biofertilizers used in this study were Lactobacillus (BOF2), and Vermicompost + Lacto (BOF5). The chemical analysis of these biofertilizers and the soil were evaluated. These were applied during the hardening stage of the abaca plantlets in the potting media and soon the abaca was transferred to the field to validate the effectivity of the biofertilizers used. Growth performances of the abaca were also assessed as well as its nutrient content
