In one’s life, education plays a vital role in achieving a significant success and gaining many better opportunities in the future that lies ahead. Every day, educators design creative and authentic activity to students to prepare them as they face their future lives. Within this context of education, teachers must guide their students to achieve the highest level of learning performance they can achieve. The purpose of the study was to determine the effects of Problem- Based Learning Approach on students achievement in Asian Studies of the Grade 7 students of the laboratory High School of Palompon Institute of Technology S.Y 2020-2021. The pretest- posttest control group design was employed in this research. Sixty –two (62) Grade 7 Students were enrolled in Asian Studies 7 subject and were randomly assigned to either the PBL (experimental) group or the conventional approach (control) group. To gather the data for the study, a 45-item test was used, both as a pretest and posttest. The researcher subjected the data to analysis using the following statistical treatments: (a) mean and standard deviation; (b) t-test for independent samples; and (c) paired sample t-test. Mean and standard deviation were utilized to present the descriptive results on the pre-test and post-test performance of the students from the control and experimental groups. Based on the data gathered, the findings showed that after the implementation of PBL approach, the performance of the students revealed an outstanding improvement compared to the conventional approach. This means that the PBL is a more effective strategy than the conventional approach in the achievement of students in the Asian Studies subject. Based on the above findings, it was concluded that students need a different learning strategy to improve their performance in Asian Studies, and that they performed betterif they use the PBL instead of conventional approach. Thus, it is recommended that the department heads may conduct a seminar-workshop using the PBL strategy in Asian Studies and in all other disciplines.
