This study highlights blueprint reading competencies, encompassing the knowledge,
skills, and attitudes crucial for successful learning, application in various contexts, and
professional application. It aims to determine the performance of mechanical
technology students in blueprint reading competencies. Results revealed the students'
competency level in blueprint reading utilizing the common and core competencies as
indicators; although the students displayed above-average performances, there are still
identified areas requiring enhancement in both common and core competencies.
Pathways from these findings involve various strategies: conducting a separate in-depth
study for a deeper understanding of the subject matter, incorporating heightened
emphasis on blueprint lessons and competency-based exercises within mechanical
technology courses, and facilitating industry experts' collaboration. Additionally, it
suggests providing professional development opportunities for trainers and students to
cultivate consistent and well-supported experiences in handling complex tasks. In
essence, this study illuminates existing competencies among students and offers
targeted directions to broaden their expertise in blueprint reading, aiming to foster a
more comprehensive and proficient learning environment.
