This research explores the understanding and application of Archimedes' Principle and
Buoyancy in fishing practices. The researcher used survey questionnaires with the use of
descriptive statistics, and thematic analysis using the tool NVivo to analyze the interview
answers of the respondents. The findings of this research underscore that fisherfolks
already have the basic knowledge about Archimedes' principle and buoyancy, they
acquired it through formal education (37%) and community learning (30%). These things
possess an optimistic result to the fisherfolks for it enhances the awareness of safety
practices and operational efficiency. Yet, challenges remain entangled for the fisherfolks
on the applications of this principles due to the limited trainings and resources. Revealing
also the gap between theoretical knowledge and the implementation of it in the real
world. The analysis dignified that the shape and weight of the boat give the role of
buoyancy and stability. The flatter boats are good in calm water but pointed boats are
good in rough water. It also implies the proper distribution of weight or cargo is deemed
to prevent any accident. In conclusion, fisherfolks need more development on hands-on
and practical training, wherein, the results signify having 35% of the training is effective
and 25% very effective. Fisherfolks strongly agree (45%) to the impact of a better
understanding of Archimedes' principle and buoyancy, which means it helps them a lot.
By addressing these needs of fisherfolks it will promote the integration of traditional
practices with scientific principles and give a vital strike for the holistic approach of
education and resource ensuring maritime safety and efficiency.
