STS module development provides comprehensible ideas, assistance and support to the
teaching-learning process in science education. The study aims to develop and
determine the effectiveness of the STS Module. The emergent theory was based from
the objective of the study. The emerge theory were generated from the result of SWOT
analysis as perceived by content experts, technical experts and end-users and the
significant difference of the entry and exit test performance of students. The emergent
theory in the study were framed from the features and the significant improvement of
the module which pave way for the increase in STS performance of the students and the
effectiveness of the module. Paloma’s Theory were formulated which stands for P-
Picture out the module, A-Adopt appropriate and relevant instruction, L-Look for
weaknesses and threats, O-Optimize the module, M- Monitor the module efficacy and A-
Appraise the module. Therefore, a well-developed and validated module has an
encouraging effect on the students’ performance in STS course. Based on Paloma’s
emergent theory, the researcher found out that through this theory teachers will be
aware of the importance of creating a tool which will boost learning and gives inspiration
to the learner that will serves as guide on how to develop effective module for the
learning process of students as independent learner.
